Pauline Edith Silver

Grace Murray

January 11, 1943 - August 20, 2022

Pauline Edith Silver, daughter of the late Arthur & Harriett Engram, was born on January 11, 1943 in Washington, DC. Pauline was the only girl of 5 children: James Peterson (deceased), Richard Peterson (deceased), Arthur Engram Jr (deceased) and Leroy Engram Sr.

Pauline peacefully, departed this life in the early hours on Saturday, August 20, 2022 after a courageous battle with Stage 4 Sinus Cancer. Our "SHERO" was a true fighter since day one of her diagnosis. She'd say, "I'm going to do whatever I need to do to get through this" and she did.

Pauline attended DC Public Schools then proceeded on to her work life. She had a career in Food Service at Casualty Hospital, Washington Hospital Center & DC Veterans Administration Medical Center, in which she later retired. Early in life, Pauline developed an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Savior. Pauline attended and later joined as a dedicated member of Clothing of Power Eternal Church (COPE). She proudly joined the Usher Ministry and assisted where needed.

During Pauline's younger years, she dated her childhood sweetheart Clarence Daniels (deceased), of which a child was born (Raven Luckett). Later, another spark caught her attention, first Husband, Daniel Luckett (deceased); from this Union, a child was born, Shawn Luckett (deceased). As life continued, Pauline met Alexander and they later married; from this Union, the baby girl was born, Caprice (Silver) Greene.

Pauline was affectionately known as "Lucky" who was loved by many and she returned the Love. She loved cooking, cleaning and definitely shopping or what we'd like to call

"picking up" and getting you to pay as she walked away (we still laugh at that). She loved getting dressed snazzy & jazzy to go out to any affair or gathering, dancing, cuttin' up and just liked to have a good time. Lucky was also known for her pleasant attitude, helpfulness and willingness to support others when she could.

Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected with her family and friends. While reminiscing about old & new times, Lucky would show that infectious smile and laugh (some were extremely hilarious). She was also affectionally known as and related to Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett for her overwhelming God given sense of humor. We'd often say, "Looka here Lady" and she would just laugh or smile as if she did nothing wrong (too funny). YaYa, as her Grandchildren, Tyler (Pumpkin) & Tyniah (Sunshine) called her, would remember "playing school (as a student or teacher)", taking walks to the 711 store and swinging at the playground when they were young. We ALL played cards ("500") with her and of course she'd win and if not, it may have been a 52-card pickup or table shuffle (too funny).

Pauline leaves to cherish her memory: Raven Luckett, the late Shawn Luckett, and Caprice (Silver) Greene, Son-in-Law, Edrick 'Rick' Greene; Bonus Daughter, Fuchsia Brown; Step-Daughter, Tiawana Silver; three Grandchildren, Shawn Jones, Tyler & Tynich Greene, Bonus Grandchildren; Great Grandchildren and Bonus Great Grandchildren;

Brother, Leroy Engram Sr. (Antoinelle); Sister-in-Laws & Brother-in-Laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 with a viewing at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am at Enon Baptist Church, 5200 Temple Hills Rd, Temple Hills, MD 20748. Repast to follow at the church. Interment will be private.
