MARCEL LOPEZ, age 60, peacefully passed away on August 3, 2022, at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center at 2:22pm.
Marcel Lopez was born on January 16, 1962, to Edgar Charles and Irene Theresa Lopez in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago. He graduated from Central Highschool in Arima. At the age of 23 Marcel moved to the United States of America. He started his career in the United States working as a
mechanic for Goodyear. Then on March 23, 1987, he started Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. After a successful career 35 years later, he retired on December 1, 2021.
Marcel is survived by his wife Joann Lopez, 4 children RachelAnn Ajayi, JoseAnn Edmund, Jonathan Lopez and Zechary Lopez, 5 grandchildren, 12 brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marcel was a beloved husband, father, coworker, and friend. He enjoyed
life to the fullest. He had a bright and energic personality and was known
for his ability to sense when people needed help. He touched many lives with his generosity and passion for life. Whenever asked how are you doing today? His favorite response was "I'm doing FANTASTIC"!
He will forever be in the hearts and memories of many, and he will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Agape Word Center Church International, 6728 Industrial Dr. Beltsville, MD, 20705. Viewing at 10:00 AM, Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
